Celebrating Wins

This is something I struggle with. Whether it’s a small victory or a big achievement, I find it hard to embrace the moment and celebrate. I believe my hesitation stems from being overwhelmed, fear or doubt. More often than not, by the time I reach a big win, the journey has drained me. Or, I worry that if I celebrate too much, karma will come knocking. Or simply, I don't deserve to celebrate-it's just a blog, a social media post, marketing or an email. Nothing notable or worthy of appreciation. It might seem like I have a glass-half-empty mentality, but that’s not the case. I’m just a bit hard on myself at times.
That said, I know how important it is to acknowledge and appreciate wins. Whether it’s having a productive week at work, writing my blog, consistently marketing THE NARCISSIST, or engaging with my social media audience. I need to recognize these accomplishments and be proud of them. It’s something I need to work on.
The benefits? Better mental health, for one. Motivation to keep going, for another. I’ve come to realize that being kind to myself will lead to success in ways I never imagined. Even if it’s just feeling a little more hopeful about my goals and the path I’m on.
So how do I start celebrating wins? Baby steps. I need to intentionally pause and acknowledge what I’ve accomplished. That means after writing this blog, I should take a moment to appreciate it—something I normally wouldn’t do. I tend to check things off my list and move on without a second thought. It will feel uncomfortable at first. I don’t know exactly what celebrating will look like for me yet, but I know I need to start.
I won’t be perfect at it, but with every small celebration, I’ll be one step closer to making it a habit. And honestly, we could all use that boost.
To those who already celebrate their wins—I admire you. And to those who want to but haven’t started yet—let’s do this together.
Do you celebrate the wins? If you don’t, why not? What have you accomplished today, last week or last month?
I would love to hear from you.
