Becoming An Author

Embarking on the journey to publish a novel is a path filled with challenges, yet it's one that many writers, including myself, feel compelled to pursue. Over the past decade, my passion for storytelling has driven me to navigate the intricate world of writing and publishing, teaching me invaluable lessons along the way.

I’m a proud mom of four grown children—amazing human beings who are, without a doubt, my greatest accomplishments. For the past three decades, I’ve worked in administration, a career that has provided me with stability, growth, and gratitude for all the opportunities life has given me.

Writing has always been a passion of mine. In my younger years, I wrote poetry and short stories, dreaming of becoming a journalist. I even have the old papers where I took notes on the Reagan shooting, pretending I was already reporting the news.

Life has been a whirlwind—some moments incredible, others incredibly difficult. But through it all, I’ve tackled challenges head-on, like a pit bull refusing to back down. Those experiences, both the good and the bad, have shaped me and sparked endless story ideas. Now that my children are grown and life is a bit quieter, I’ve finally embraced my passion for writing.

Over the past decade, I’ve written, edited, queried agents, edited again, and ultimately self-published The Narcissist. It has been a wild ride full of lessons, setbacks, and triumphs. I entered the world of novel writing with little idea of what I was getting myself into and slowly realized how challenging the process could be. I stumbled, doubted myself, and even gave up a few times. But, true to my nature, I kept returning to writing and publishing.

The journey of writing a book is not for the faint of heart, but it’s deeply rewarding. I would never discourage anyone from trying—it’s a personal and powerful experience, and we all embark on it for different reasons. Through my blogs, I hope to share my experiences, offer guidance, and provide encouragement to others navigating their own creative paths.

We’re in this together, and if I can help even a little, then it’s all been worth it.
